Zions Bancorporation has a 2025 Summer internship working directly with our Asset Based Lending (“ABL”) group. The primary focus will be on the ABL group’s credit portfolio management and underwriting. The intern will also have the opportunity to work with our Field Exam and Central Monitoring groups providing someone interested in commercial and corporate finance a strong foundation in some of the most important credit fundamentals and risk management. The opportunity is in Salt Lake City, UT.
This position is a full-time opportunity with a hybrid, 3/2 schedule. (3-days in office, 2-days WFH)
Ideal candidates will have the policy, accounting, and finance skills and experience necessary to:
- Work with ABL senior and executive leadership to understand and assist with portfolio management and underwriting.
- May develop in-depth financial models including financial statement projections, cash flow budgeting, and asset-based lending collateral forecasts.
- May conduct borrower financial, accounts receivable, inventory, and other collateral analysis, borrower due diligence, credit investigations, credit, and loan analysis, underwriting and other documentation information pertaining to credit and loan analysis. Evaluates and analyzes working capital.
- May review collateral field examinations for relevant information and areas of concern.
- Investigates credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, head office files, and branches.
- May meet with and interview customers to develop a strong understanding of the loan request and the business relationship ensures the accuracy and completeness of financial information received for loan renewals.
- Analyzes financial statements including performance trends, covenant compliance with loan documents, and related material. Determines historical cash flow using financial statement information.
- May provide credit information and references for customers, loan officers, or other agencies as requested.
- May ensure that all credit files include current financial statements, borrowing base information, agency reports, and other required documentation.
- May make recommendations for loan structure.
- May assist with other projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you need to bring to the table:
- Knowledge of finance with preference for knowledge of corporate and commercial finance
- Knowledge of accounting, financial statements, financial spreading and analysis, financial modeling preferred.
- Client relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Working knowledge of computer software programs including spreadsheets, word processing, etc. required.
