We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking, and results-driven Business Continuity Leader to join our dynamic team and advance the Business Continuity (BC) program within the Office of Enterprise Business Resilience (EBR). In this critical leadership role, you will own the development and execution of our enterprise-wide continuity strategy ensuring our organization remains prepared to respond to disruptions while maintaining essential operations and safeguarding client trust.

As a senior member of the EBR organization - comprised of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management, Corporate Security, and Supplier Resilience - you will be responsible for evolving and maturing the BC program to meet the demands of a fast-changing risk environment. You’ll lead cross-functional planning, guide business unit preparedness, and collaborate with leaders at all levels to build a culture of continuity and resilience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the enterprise-wide Business Continuity program in alignment with the broader Business Resilience strategy.
  • Translate regulatory expectations, risk insights, and business needs into practical, sustainable, and testable continuity solutions.
  • Own and manage the business continuity lifecycle, guiding business units through the annual refresh process, delivering tools, templates, and support to ensure effective ownership, quality, and adherence to BC program requirements.
  • Oversee and maintain an enterprise-wide Business Impact Analysis (BIA) process to identify critical business functions, systems, dependencies, and acceptable recovery time objectives (RTOs).
  • Plan and execute against the multi-year testing strategy, including tabletop exercises, limited scale tests, and full-scale simulations in collaboration with Disaster Recovery.
  • Maintain program documentation, policies, standards, and procedures that meet or exceed regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., FFIEC, ISO22301, and other applicable guidelines).
  • Partner with risk, operations, and IT teams to ensure continuity risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated as part of enterprise risk management practices.
  • Collaborate across all Three Lines of Defense to embed continuity planning into day-to-day business operations.
  • Champion integration with related risk disciplines, including Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management, Supplier Resilience, and Corporate Security to align recovery strategies and strengthen response coordination.
  • Serve as a key contributor to integrated resilience efforts by bringing continuity lens into enterprise-level scenario planning, threat analysis, and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare program updates, metrics, and risk summaries to executive leadership, board committees, and regulators as necessary.
  • Serve as a key liaison for Business Continuity during regulatory exams, audits, and risk reviews.
  • Foster a culture of readiness by coaching, training, and empowering teams to own and activate their continuity plans.
  • Serve as a thought leader and change agent, influencing how the bank thinks about resilience risk, business disruption, and continuity of operations.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of continuity professionals, fostering engagement, accountability, and effective coordination with stakeholders across the bank.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Emergency Management, or related field (Master’s or certifications such as CBCP or MBCP preferred).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Business Continuity or Enterprise Resilience, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Deep knowledge of BC lifecycle components, including risk assessment, BIA, continuity planning, plan testing, and program governance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry frameworks (e.g., FFIEC, ISO 22301, NIST).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills with a passion for building simple, effective solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence, educate, and engage all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives, drive cross-functional alignment, and manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Collaborative spirit with a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and stakeholder success.
  • A combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience may also be considered.

The position is located at the Zions Technology Center which is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus will be the company’s primary technology and operations center.  This modern and environmentally friendly technology center will enable Zions to continue to compete for the best technology talent in the state while providing team members with an exceptional work environment with features such as:
