Cloud Security Engineer
Zions Bancorporation has an opportunity for a Security Engineer, with emphasis on public cloud security, data loss protection, network security, and virtual endpoints while following multiple security frameworks, to join the Digital Strategy team that works on projects to expand our digital presence through cutting edge technologies. You can be on the front line of our entrepreneurial projects based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

As a Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the security of a cloud-native, innovative ecosystem for our in-house developed digital solutions.
The successful candidate will have the skills and experience to effectively lead cross-functional teams in collaborative design, development, and quality assurance activities dealing with complex applications and challenges. You will be business outcome driven and have a passion for the field of agile application development, cloud, and delivery services and possess empathy with a drive to create outstanding experiences and improved solutions for our users.
Responsibilities:
- Work with IT and Security leadership to understand security gaps and priorities.
- Work with a broader group of employees and contractors to implement the security requirements of the project.
- Implement and support a wide range of security controls within a public cloud environment, including supporting our data governance, DLP, firewalls, NSGs, endpoint security, and much more.
- Establishing and configuring baselines within the cloud environment.
- Documentation and tracking of all work completed.
- Provide thoughtful and meaningful insights and suggestions when appropriate.
- Adhere to company standards, recognized security frameworks and cloud security best practices.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 3 certificates in Cloud Security / Information Security or a bachelor’s degree in relevant field (ex: CISSP, CCSP, ASEA, etc).
- Minimum of 8+ years of public cloud security experience.
- Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, Defender for Endpoint, Palo Alto NGFW, and Palo Alto Global Protect experience preferred.
- Cloud networking and cloud architecture knowledge and experience a must.
- Must have effective communication skills to share insights, recommendations, and issues to technical and non-technical teammates.
- Must have and demonstrate troubleshooting skills for cloud security tools and controls.
- Must be a self-starter and take initiative to complete tasks within a timely manner without supervision. Successful remote work experience if remote.
- Knowledge of NIST, CSA, Mitre and other security frameworks preferred.
- Successful candidate will show a willingness to learn and will seek out and stay current on emerging security trends and technologies.
Pay Range:
$115,000 – $170,000 (Based upon relatable skills/experience)
Location:
This position requires regular face-to-face interaction with teams, business stakeholders, and executives in Salt Lake City, Utah. We will consider candidates in the area, able to relocate to the area, or working remotely but willing to travel regularly to Salt Lake City.
